A barn dance themed 21st birthday party (thanks Nathan) was the evening that Caldwyn and Elana first laid eyes on each other. Elana being the more experienced (and better) dancer took the opportunity to “teach” the ever so introverted Caldwyn and even got him to the dance floor.

The night was filled with dancing, laughter, fun, broken pot plants and a cheeky kiss or two. Little did Caldwyn know at the time he was a mere lonely grazing gazelle that fell prey to the lioness.

The couple of months that followed April 2017 was met with casual and awkward meetings at friends/ family braais.

December of that year and the following 3 months is when the two started to hit it off again. It began with a bold Instagram DM (from Elana might we add) requesting Caldwyn’s number as she had “lost it”. Obviously, Caldwyn responded by giving his number and a poor excuse for responding days after receiving the message.

What started as a flirtatious December, quickly turned into meaningful and attentive conversations, which led to meeting families and spending more time in each other’s presence. On 3 April 2018 the couple made it official and then began their journey together as partners for life.

P.S. The gazelle is no longer grazing alone and respected by his peers for landing the lioness.
